You just purchased a great computer monitor. But there is one more step to take care of before you begin editing: calibrating a monitor for photography. In this free video, world-renowned outdoor photographer Ian Plant shows you how calibrating a monitor for photography is crucial in producing memorable images. Factory calibrations are not always accurate, and eyeballing your monitor until you like the look of your screen images is not always accurate for producing quality prints. Ian uses the Eizo ColorEdge Monitor with color calibrations built in. If your monitor doesn’t have this feature, you need an external software package. Ian demonstrates the two most popular packages: the Datacolor Spyder and the X-Rite ColorMunki. Calibrating a monitor for photography will ensure that your final photo files are top quality for prints, publications, and the Web.
