Capturing Memorable Songbird Photos

Doug Gardner
Duration:   6  mins

In North Carolina, professional bird photographer Gary Carter has built an amazing songbird sanctuary, home to 35 different species. On occasion, he invites the public and also offers instruction. In this video, you will learn some of the tips on capturing memorable songbird images. For instance, you want to manually pre-focus in the general area where the birds feed. After shooting a sequence, you should always check your histogram to make sure your exposure includes all the visual data.

Behind the sanctuary in the bottomland lies a variety of plant life including hardwood trees, red-stem ferns, and jack-in-the-pulpit, all worth photographing with a wide-angle lens. Join pro shooters Gary Carter and Doug Gardner for more than just photographing birds.
