Overcast Photography in the Great Smoky Mountains

Tony Sweet
Duration:   5  mins

Learn to shoot a cascading mountain stream and the lighting and focusing challenges it brings. Professional photographer Tony Sweet shows you how to address exposure challenges of the rushing white water that will be in the same photo with darker elements.

Professional photographer Tony Sweet takes you on a photo shoot of a cascading mountain stream in the Smokies. He will show you how to shoot rushing water, which has several hot spots, alongside darker shade trees and rocks that are in the stream. All the while he talks to you about using the light nature has provided the day of your shoot. As he instructs you in camera settings, exposures, and angles to get the best photographs in the circumstances, he brackets his shots for different outcomes and shares his results with you so you know what you will get when you use the same techniques on your own.
