In this video, world-renowned photographer Ian Plant will give you tips on creating abstract images out of simple scenes. He takes you to the Falkland Islands of South America where you will learn how to recognize artistic elements in a channel of swimming seaweed.
With his telephoto lens, Ian looks for swirls and shapes in the waving kelp and takes numerous exposures to get the one he wants. The result? A beautiful pattern in golds and dark blues. He suggests that you stop being literal and learn to see everyday scenes as shapes and colors that comprise abstract artistic forms.
