Shooting Orchids with a Printed Background

In photographing flowers on location, sometimes the backgrounds are too busy. But a printed background can work wonders. In this video, pro shooter Tony Sweet shows you why.

He sets up to photograph orchids, using a colorful, out-of-focus abstract print as a background. Using a 200mm lens with an extension tube, he exposes the orange flowers at f-8. The resulting image is sharp against the soft print backdrop. He shoots another series of a white flower off a print backdrop in orange tonality.
