The Flying Angel

Steve Kossack
Duration:   4  mins

Every picture tells a story. In this video, professional landscape photographer Steve Kossack takes you into a cavern in Arizona where he photographs the visual story of the flying angel.

To capture the complex, contrasting light that creates the flying angel pattern in the cavern, Steve relies on some basics. “For my first exposure, I use no filters, naked lens, and expose for the mid-tones.” The resulting image shows four stops of difference between shadows and highlights. He adds various filters and exposes several more frames, which allows the option of creating a composite in post-production.
