With so many ways to cast on in knitting, it seems like the possibilities are endless! Knowing a few different ways to cast on your project means you can choose the right cast on for your next knitted creation. In this video, Jen Lucas will guide you through the steps for the cable cast on method.

The cable cast on is worked in a similar manner to the knitted cast on. Instead of working into the first stitch on the left-hand needle, you work into the space between the first and second stitches on the left-hand needle to create a new stitch. By working the new stitches this way, a firm edge is created. This is cast on is not only perfect for starting a new project, but also when casting on in the middle of a row is needed, like in the underarm of a sweater.
