Doug Gardner
Duration:   5  mins

How do you capture an osprey family nesting high up over a South Carolina lake? In this video on tips and techniques for photographing osprey, professional wildlife photographer Doug Gardner shows you how to photograph these beautiful birds in their natural habitat.

In the boat, Doug sets up his camera and tripod, the sun behind him. He explains the need for a long telephoto lens and the 1/2500th shutter speed to hold focus on the birds in flight. Doug shoots the Osprey with a motor drive at 10 frames per second. “You have to shoot a lot to get a little,” he explains.

Join pro photographer Doug Gardner as he captures the osprey in action. “One of my favorite birds to photograph,” he says.
