The invisible ribbed bind off is a sewn bind off that creates a very stretchy edge to finish 1×1 (knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch) ribbing. As the name suggests, this bind off is nearly invisible and gives the edge of your piece a clean, finished look. In this video, Jill Wright demonstrates how to work the invisible ribbed bind off.
To begin, Jill measures out a yarn tail that is approximately three times the width of the swatch. She threads the end of the yarn tail onto a blunt tapestry needle and then begins the bind off, following these steps:
Repeat steps 4 through 7 until one stitch remains on the needle. Bring yarn through the final stitch to fasten off.
