Capturing the Barber Shop in HDR Photography

Tony Sweet
Duration:   2  mins

When professional photographer and instructor, Tony Sweet, discovered a musty, old barber shop in the prison, he knew he had an ideal HDR photograph. He calls it, “one of the greatest shots in all of the prison, challenging but worth the effort.”

Tony shows you how to balance the bright red barber chair with the shaft of sunlight from the ceiling window. Using aperture priority, he captures the shadows and highlights, and the textures. He auto-brackets eight long exposures to capture all the data at either end of the gray scale. “I took a lot of pictures,” he says, “but these should blend together well in post production.”

Join pro photographer, Tony Sweet, as he assembles an amazing HDR photograph.
