Arranging Molded Flowers
Rachael TeufelDescription
Cake designer Rachael Teufel walks you through placing your flowers to create a gorgeous arrangement with tons of depth and texture. Prior to placing any flowers on the cake, Rachael uses a cardboard cake circle to get an idea of the flowers and leaves she’ll use. This trick will not only help you estimate the size of the grouping needed to cover your cake but also give you some freedom to create a balanced arrangement without the risk of damaging your cake. Starting in the center of a pre-iced cake, she then transfers the flowers to the top of the cake, overlapping and creating a natural arrangement.
Included are tips and tricks on how to manipulate molded flowers to fit together and how to create a gentle curve over the top edge of your cake. For tips on achieving a perfect buttercream base for your next floral design, check out this video “Final Buttercream Coating.”
